I happened to run across a new thing in the foodmarket! Marabou has a new chocolate bar; STARBAR (49g).
Sounds.. interesting. Reminds me of old times for some reason. The bar says: "Peanutty caramel crumble". Great, now I have some expectations. It sounds a bit like one other chocolate bar, which name I can't remember now. Something with B.. ? Oh yeah, Brejk. Another bar from Marabou.
First I have to say: I like this packaging a lot. Somehow it's just so nicely wrapped, nicely tight but still has some room to hear the sounds of the plastic. Crumble crumble.
Well, let's see the ingredients then. The first thing I'm going to check: Does it have LACTOSE? (I'm lactose intolerant nowadays..)
It says: (I have to translate this on my own, sorry for any odd phrases!) Milk chocolate with toffee filling and pieces of roasted peanuts. Ingredients: Toffee 30% [I won't be listing what's in it.. Starch etc], milk chocolate [again, won't list], peanuts (22%), vegetable fat, sugar, starch, whey powder (?), wheat powder, rice powder, salt, barley syrup, malt extract. Milk chocolate contains other vegetable fats too than just chocolate butter. (:-D yeah.) CONTAINS MILK, PEANUTS, WHEAT, GLUTEN. MAY CONTAIN REMNANTS OF NUTS AND SOY.
I like how they REALLY want to tell you Yeah, there is MILK AND PEANUTS AND ALL THE OTHER THINGS THAT MIGHT KILL YOU IF YOU EAT THEM.
I'm not kidding, it's nice that you don't have to search for it, it just pops right into your eyes.
Anyway: It has lactose. Luckily I have pills that give me lactose enzyme. (I recommend them to everyone. Go check your local drug store; I just Nolact, costs about 25e/100 pills.)
Let's eat then. Package was easy to open. The smell is nice, smells like normal chocolate. Looks like a normal chocolate bar: Like some bear had a rough last night.
At first glance I thought the bar has a lot of toffee in it, but then I notice it's something else on the bottom.. The whole bar is very soft when you take a bite out of it. It doesn't have the regular cookie on the bottom, and I must admit I kinda like it. I still can taste the cookie? What is this sorcery?
Oh yeah, it has peanuts! It's the taste of peanuts that I get combined with caramel crumble. The bottom cookie has been replaced with some sort of good tasting paste. I wonder what it is. The toffee on the top under the chocolate topping. Oh no, I was wrong. The toffee is on a round shape, surrounding the sweet paste just like the chocolate. I must admit this is tasty, but now that I have eaten half the bar, I feel it's too sweet. I have to keep a break, though in a way it's a good thing: You won't eat the whole goodness at one time!
UPS:

- Chocolate is good, not too sweet
- Not too much toffee (not too sweet)
DOWNS:
- Does have lactose (no surprise, but still a downer)
- Maybe too sweet after all. When combining all the things. I wasn't sure to put this here, but heck, I'll do it. UPDATE: Hell yeah this is too sweet! Even after 10 minutes I still don't feel like opening my mintchocolate! Unfair. My throat hurts, I need chocolate.
All and all, if you enjoy chocolate bars like BREJK from Marabou , I would suggest you try this. I haven't eaten Brejk in a long time but if I remember right (correct me if I'm wrong) this is just like it but smaller and without the cookie. The taste is similar, looks different. And size. And with peanuts.
